General Training InformationIntroductionWelcome to Endocrinology! As a division of the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, the Division of Endocrinology strives to promote excellence in education and training of medical students, residents and fellows, in clinical, translational and basic research, and in all aspects of patient care involving disorders of the endocrine and metabolic systems of the body. Training The Division of Endocrinology offers undergraduate and post-graduate training opportunities for in-patient and out-patient care of endocrine and metabolic disorders for all levels of medical training. Medical Students: 2-week or 1-month electives arranged through the Faculty of Medicine Undergraduate Education office General Internal (Core) Medicine Residents: 1-month electives arranged through the Department of Medicine Post-graduate Education office. Specialty or Family Practice Residents and Out-of-Province Residents: 1-month electives arranged through the Division of Endocrinology Post-graduate Education office. Endocrinology Sub-specialty Residents (Fellows): 2-year fellowship leading in most cases to eligibility for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Endocrinology and Metabolism for those who meet the criteria.
